General
Canon Source: Sex Pistols
Canon Format: Manga (Although I will be using anime icons as well, as the 2 episode OVA is just the first few chapters with minor changes)
Character's Name: Tsuburaya Norio
Character's Age: 16
What form will your character's NV take? A good old uninteresting tiny silver cellphone. What's a Japanese teenager without one? This one, of course, is equipped with real time video as well.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: I’m kind of reluctant to call what Norio has ‘abilities’ because they’re more traits of his species than powers that give him any benefit. But I’ll list them just in case:
- Much to his dismay, Norio secretes exceedingly potent pheromones that pretty much say “Hello! I’m a rare species! Come mate with me!”. These apparently not only affect other members of his race (Madararuri, which will be explained in the history section below!) but regular humans as well. Obviously, in game this would be on a case-by-case basis at the player’s discretion. The explanation would be that something about his journey through the Core made things a bit wonky, and now not all Newcomers are susceptible to his scent.
- When he’s... ahem, aroused by another’s scent, Norio will suddenly gain a cat’s tail and ears. Similarly, when he’s in an unexpected situation that triggers his Madaruri side (for example another character sets off this reaction by flinging a cat toy at him) he can suddenly become a complete cat/monkey creature Luckily, only other members of his species can see either of these things. To regular humans, he always simply looks just like an ordinary teenage boy.
- He can see a Madararuri’s true animal form. As there are none in the Port currently, this shouldn’t come up, although I’m sure people with animal traits will have a hard time convincing him they aren’t Madararuri.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Even though he has some traits that could be considered superhuman, as he has no direct control over those I would like to request an ability for him exclusive to Siren’s Port: I would like him to eventually be able to take on his cat/monkey form at will, and in a way that’s visible to everyone rather than just members of his species. It’s a very small creature (the size of a house cat) with no special powers of its own.
Weapons: None.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Norio’s life began to take a turn for the bizarre at age 16 when he had an accident with his scooter that landed him in the hospital. While laying in his bed, he had a vision of his grandfather. As if this wasn’t odd enough, his grandfather then changed into a house cat before vanishing just as abruptly as he’d come.
When he recovered and returned to school, suddenly Norio found himself the recipient of quite an abundance of attention. This may not have been so bad if it were only from the girl students, but even the males were stuffing his locker with love confessions and stopping him in the hall to take a good long whiff of his body. This all would have been perplexing enough, if not for the fact that suddenly he was also seeing everyone as an animal! Most people he saw asmonkeys, but an upperclassman that was among those showering him with affection looked like a bear. Said upperclassman also warns him to watch out for a beastly pair of brothers with the last name ‘Madarame. Things took a turn for the especially unpleasant when he ends up whisked away to a men’s bathroom at a train station by a large, intimidating looking man who insists on smelling him as all the others have done. Norio finds himself unable to do much protesting, as he finds the scary guy actually smells rather good! So good in fact, that he starts feeling a little lightheaded and weak.
Then the guy jacks off on his face.
Really, I wish there were a better way to put that, but that is exactly what happens. The guy tells him that he has to run to work, but that he’ll be visiting Norio at his home tomorrow and that he better not even try to run away. It's later explained that cumming on his face was an attempt to quickly mark Norio as his own to keep others away from him.
Needless to say, as anyone would be, Norio is horribly shaken by the whole experience and is traumatized to the point of not leaving his bed the next day. Unfortuantely, the creepy man from the train station does come by -- and it turns out he’s a student at his own high school! What’s more, he’s Madarame Kunimasa , one of the beastly Madarame brothers that he’d been warned about! He shoves a children’s book at Norio, ordering him to read it. At first Norio protests, but when the guy guesses right about his sudden problem with others being infatuated with him and seeing everyone as animals, he decides to give the tome a look.
Inside, it’s explained that there are two kinds of humanoids. There are those that evolved from apes, and then there are those that evolved from other animals, called Madararuri. “Ape men” only see every human as other ape men, but Madararuri can recognize the true animal form of others of their kind. Ape men do have an advantage -- they’re quite fertile and able to easily reproduce, while Madararuri are not. Kunimasa goes on to explain that sometimes if there’s a Madararuri in a ‘monkey’ family line, a few generations down a Madararuri may be born to them. These extremely rare cases are called ‘return to ancestry’, and are highly sought after as they make it possible to produce Madararuri offspring while having the advantage of the monkey’s fertility. Norio, he explains, is one such ‘return to ancestry’.
Oh, and by the way he plans to impregnate Norio with his child. It turns out male Madararuri can become pregnant from other male Madararuri with the help of a handy little parasite that when placed inside their anus can create a temporary womb. You have no idea how hard it was to type that part up with a straight face, but I felt it was a pretty important thing to include.
Needless to say, once he realizes that the guy is not just off his rocker, he firmly refuses and tells Kunimasa to leave. Kunimasa tells him that he’ll regret rejecting a mate of his caliber, and storms off leaving a very scared and confused Norio to digest all the information he’s just been given.
The next day, when Norio is happy to find that he no longer sees others as animals. Hoping he’d dreamed the bizarre events of the day before, he tries to go about his day as normal.
The bear upperclassman from before (named Kumakashi Teruhiko) tells him that he’s covered in the scent of a ‘Nekomata’ Madaruri, and offers to protect Norio from Kunimasa. But Kunimasa appears and attacks him, telling him that Norio is his mate and he won’t let him touch him. Norio had seen Teruhiko as a bear again, and in a fit of panic clings instead to Kunimasa. Teruhiko dejectedly takes this as a sign that Norio has chosen the jaguar over him and runs off in tears. Just when Norio finds himself being overpowered by Kunimasa’s scent again, the older man tells him he’s much too tired due to an early work shift, but that he’ll have lots of sex with him later.
So began the weird, wild adventure that was to be Norio’s life from then on.
Point in Canon: Right after Norio attempts to help Teruhiko reject the American Grizzly that his grandmother and mother are forcing him to mate with in order to prevent the extinction of the family line.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history:
Character Personality:
Norio is an absolute spazz. He doesn’t tend to have any emotion in moderation, giving his dramatic all from being in tears that he’s going to die and never get oral sex from a woman to being jump up-and-down happy during the rare occurrence that something is going right for him. Considering how strange his life has become almost literally overnight, it’s hard to blame the kid for being a little theatrical. The upside to this is that when it comes to helping and speaking up for those he cares about, he will do it loudly and with little thought to the consequences he’ll have to face for it. More often than not, those consequences end up with him getting the crap kicked out of him, but that doesn’t seem to stop him from getting into the same situation again and again. The fact is beneath that spazzy interior he’s a very selfless person, full of more heart than common sense.
When it comes to intelligence, he simply isn’t the sharpest crayon in the box. Things that are obvious to other people may take him awhile to realize, and sometimes he jumps to conclusions that absolutely nobody would ever dream of. Not only does he jump to these conclusions, but runs with them with reckless abandon until reality and logic decide to slap him hard in the face.
That said, in the haze of overwhelming passion which he expresses himself, it doesn’t seem like Norio is even truly sure what he wants out of life. He’ll vehemently insist he’s straight, while at the same time finds himself getting jealous when others seem to be the object of Kunimasa’s affections. He wrongly accuses the jaguar of ‘cheating’ on him several times due to his aforementioned tendency to jump to wild conclusions. He doesn’t even seem to have a clear goal for his future (aside from hopefully getting laid by a girl) before Kunimasa comes into his life, instead just taking things as they come and not thinking too hard about what he wants to do beyond the present.
In many ways, many of Norio’s faults can simply be chalked up to the fact he’s still a teenager and not mature enough to handle all of the rather massive curveballs life has decided to throw at him.
Character Plans: Norio at the point in canon I’m taking him from had been given a bracelet and ring from Kunimasa’s brother that helps hide his scent to keep him from getting humped everywhere. For maximum hijinks, these will no longer be in his possession. I imagine he’s going to try and find someone (ANYONE) who might have the ability to make him similar items. Plus, while he’s free of some of the bizarreness of his own life, the wide variety of characters that the Core drags in will give him a whole new set of things to panic over.
